1991- 1996 - Foreign Languages Degree , Istituto “Artemisia Gentileschi”, Milan


There aren’t so many news to tell about this period….
A new adventure has begun at school Istituto Tecnico Linguistico Artemisia Gentileschi in Milan.
It’s in this place that a strong and deeper dialogue and cultural exchange is developping with the movie art and its language.
These are the years of first cinema masterpieces and heroes like : Gabriele Salvatores, Spike Lee and Giuseppe Tornatore , and of course many others.

It will be also very important the aspect represented by European Litterature study.In general it’s another example of analysis of the process of “telling and writing stories”.
During final session of last year exam , Simone presents a shocking thesis called “The crises of individuals inside Theatre of twentieth century”. It’s totally not incidental , that in the thesis are shown big authors such as: Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter.

In the meantime, during year 1995 a new generation of authors of the so called “Indipendent American Cinema” is breaking through the European scene.
New masterpieces are reaching success like “Pulp Fiction” and “Reservoir Dogs” by Quentin Tarantino , “Clerks” by Kevin Smith and “El Mariachi” by Robert Rodriguez.




“Sometimes in your life there are some works which change totally your mind and take you away with them.
When I first watched Pulp Fiction , for the first time I understood that my life should have gone ahead , on the same way , on that same path….

1997-2001 – University of Bologna – Degree in Philosophy and Letters – Course : D.A.M.S. (Disciplines of Arts, Music & Show)


Cinema is not only a hobby, but a total range of exams and theorical and hystorical elements on which every single student should think seriously.
The beginning of courses at D.A.M.S. (Disciplines of Arts, Music and Show) Institute , branch : Show, at the end of the nineties faced the growth of a new generation of authors and filmakers , moved by a strong will of communication and a certain artistic anarchy, totally beyond rules and modes and of course fixed schemes.

Simone follows with serious attitude and sacrifice all subjects of the course, developping new exercises from Cinema to Theatre and making first experiments in the world of Cinema young journalism and independent criticism.
Between all different experiences , we mustn’t forget contacts with the review “Voci Off” and “Nuovo Millennio” of the journalist and friend Gianmario Patrucco.

During Autumn 2000 a new corse follows. Direction course by Italian Director Giovanni Robbiano, that according to the guy , it has been one of his best exams among all ones during whole University period.

We must also take care of all experiences that Simone has reached in all rest of exams in Dams, which were influencing him as a screenwriter. For instance it was also very important the same course and screenwriting exercises by teacher and journalist Pietro Favari in April 2000.



DEGREE - THESIS

All exams are finished .
Simone is working for the last and most important meeting : Final Thesis speech for Cinema Hystory and Criticism.

On 21 st of April 2001 , Simone presents his thesis to commission held directly by Critic leonardo Quaresima.
The title of the project is “The image of Solitude – Atom Egoyan’s Cinema”. An essay with a strong monographic character which stress all main aspect , themes and narrative techniques of Canadian director.


Meeting Atom Egoyan

On June 2000, Simone working on the essay “The image of Solitude – Atom Egoyan Cinema”.

After a long search on the web and on the same volumes in athenaeum, Simone succeded in meeting one of the most significant directors, during seminar of Direction and Screenplaying
Held by Egoyan himself in Bologna at Adriano Cinema on 6th, 7th and 8th November 2000.
This meeting represents the strongest occasion for treating and analysing all main Canadian movies , dealing with the art of Screenplay, such as: “Exotica” , “The sweet hereafter” and “Felicia’s Journey”.
Relator and co-relator of the project will be definitively teachers and Cinema critics : Leonardo Gandini e Michele Canosa.


It’s the end of a special age...

The beginning of hard job.....
