Simone Sollazzo






He was born on 27th October 1977 in Milan, the city where he’s now working and living .
The discovery of the Universe of Cinema by Simone, happened during Autumn 1980, the year in which his parents brought him to Cinema for watching first Disney cartoons.

All contacts with Cinema have developped in a deeper way during his youth by watching new movies, especially American ones (“Indiana Jones” and “Back to the Future” are most significant examples).

College years in “Artemisia Gentileschi” school for Foreign Languages ,started in September 1991, have later made Simone feel “open-minded” towards International Litterature and Theatre.
During those years there have been first screenplaying exercises, and the main approach to texts creation. A first approach not so easy and influenced by so many doubts and uncertainty.

With the final exam attended in June 1996, a sudden “turning point” is coming.
It’s the year of arrival in cine-clubs and schools of young Independent American Cinema with some authors like: Tarantino, Smith and Rodriguez who make Cinema a closer concept to young people.
Simone finally decides to try to discover this new world.

In November 1997 Simone arrives in the “ill-famed” D.A.M.S. (Disciplines of Art, Music and Show) at Bologna University.
It has been a brave and difficult choice, if we are considering original plans and forecasts about Simone’s career. A career which should have been addressed to the context of Foreign Language study or the same father path in the context of industry and plumbing.
On the other hand our guy has already arrived in Bologna for first semester beginning. There will be a “five years experience” among hard studies hours, and proofs and a train to Milan, plays, movies and reviews. Five years in which a new authorial attitude is growing up and an approach towards screenplay which is showing a future will of directing (even if this concept has been seriously postponed by Simone until now).

Experience in Bologna ends in November 2001 with a brilliant final thesis speech and discussion.
In the meantime , after new come back of Simone to Milan, new difficult experiences are ready to start in the difficult context of advertising movie production, which is not so open-minded to new authors and story boarders.
The first important meeting is represented by Ubufilm , a newcoming movie production company in Milan. In Ubufilm Simone will understand perfectly the importance of a career as screenplayer and story analist.

After a short series of free-lance experiences in the advertising production éntourage , at the beginning of years 2000, Simone starts to keep in contact with two authors considered by himself as “masters” and “teachers” at the same time: Stefano Barberi of Nomadfilms company and Rocco Rognoni, filmaker coming from Video-clips production company Avatara-Atomica .
Thanks to contribution of these two directors , Simone starts another totally different adventure in the world of Indipendent Cinema.

It’s time for new experimentation and his first scripts.....
